MISSIONS DEPARTMENT ASSISTANT

A Missions Department Assistant provides valuable service to the Department Chair and Missions Instructors by assisting with the practical needs of the classroom as well as offering valuable insight to students into the world of missions.  Through hands on training in the specific arenas of discipleship and administration, a Mission Department Assistant develops well rounded skills applicable to many aspects of ministry. 

 

Positions Available: 4

Direct Report: Brett and Julie Rayner

 

Timeframe and Commitment: August 4, 2024- May 31, 2025 (8-10 weekly hours, the start date is subject to change) 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist the Teacher and reinforce instruction taught in the classroom

 

  • Set up of technology or media needs

 

  • Grading student assignments

 

  • Taking notes and typing class summary 

 

  • Taking attendance

 

  • Attend all classes/department events                                                                                                                                                          

  • Assist with organization and communication for international missions trips

 

  • Personal investment and interaction with students

 

  • Attend regular and impromptu RU faculty and staff meetings

  • Assist with organization and communication for local, regional,
    and international outreaches/mission trips

​

  • Assist in preparing and equipping students for international travel and cross-cultural ministry

​

  • Participate and assist in the leadership of local, regional, and international outreaches/missions trips

​

  • Personal investment, and interaction with students

    ​

As a Missions Department Assistant, you will have hands-on ministry experience, specifically in the arenas of missions, service, administration, evangelism, and discipleship. This will further your understanding of missions theology and its role within the individual Christian walk and the global church as well as strengthen your abilities within administration and practical ministry. You will also receive personal discipleship, teaching, and relational investment from RSM staff and faculty.
